Uploading a non-square avatar image seems to squeeze it into square aspect ratio when in "large" format. In small format it looks OK. I couldn't "crop" only position when (re-)uploading the image.

Yep, known bug, don't have a fix for that one other than use a square photo or one that looks good squished

My latest bug to report is that my earlier bug report seems to have been eaten by the system.

That bug report was that there does not seem to be any way of searching the Gallery for a given member. Also the most recent posting seems to be in 2014.

I moved this thread to the forum support section, and you should have gotten an email stating it

@Dennis J Gooding it seems when a thread is moved, I send you a notification, not an email. But I would still like to see a note about redirection

Bill, Steve,
Will Forumrunner be added to the new forum?
If not what app do you suggest for an IPad or IPhone.

I was using Forumrunner app on an IPad with the old forum it was one suggested for use with the AAWforum a long, long time ago. The Forumrunner web site says there is a free install for administrators which then adds their forum to the Forumrunner data base.

Thanks for all the hard work!

Not to rub salt int a wound but was backup and restore not part of the upgrade plan? Or had the gallery already been lost from 2014 on? Hopefully regular backups are part of the current plan.

All of the images in the old gallery were lost apparently due to a security vulnerability in the old PhotoPost software. PhotoPost was not maintaining their software to address these vulnerabilities so the gallery was shut down when we became aware of problems in the gallery. Restoring the photo gallery was a top priority, but it was clear that PhotoPost was no longer a viable add-on for this purpose. In order to have a forum with a high quality image gallery it became apparent to we needed to change forum software and, after searching through what products were available, XenForo was the best candidate that we identified. It has an excellent photo gallery with more features than the old PhotoPost software. Unfortunately, during the beta phase of testing it was discovered that there apparently was a hack to PhotoPost in January and all of the images had been deleted. The most recent backup that was available was from the time when we upgraded to vBulletin 4 in August 2014. We also learned that our hosting service wasn't maintaining long term backups.

And, absolutely yes, going forward there will be a formal backup plan.

The intent of this thread is for reporting bugs so please start a separate thread if you have a question about the new forum that isn't a suspected bug. Right now we're busier than a one-armed paper hanger so we would like to minimize side topics in this thread.

As far as I know, there are no current plans to implement ForumRunner. I am using a iPad and XenForo seems to be quite compatible with mobile devices based on our evaluation during beta testing.

My gallery does not contain all my photos??

See Post #15 for the long sad version. :( Unfortunately, any images that were posted after about August 10, 2014 (the date of the latest backup) were lost due to a hack. If possible we would like you to upload your missing images so that we can restore as much of the gallery as possible.

I just posted with an "unordered list," which I expected to have some kind of bullets (squares, dots, whatever) but it didn't. Is this normal for this platform?

Well you probably already know this, but just in case:

In the rich text editor (the default one), you can click on the unordered list icon to do this -

My favorite sandwiches are:
  • Spam
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • hogshead cheese

Or, you can use the BB code editor by clicking the funny icon at the far right end of the editor tools and then use the BB codes for an unordered list -

My favorite sandwiches are:
[LIST]
[*]Spam
[*]Peanut butter and jelly
[*]hogshead cheese
[/LIST]

When you post the message the tags won't be visible. In case anybody is curious, I used the [PLAIN] BB code which is the Xenforo equivalent of [NOPARSE]. Also, if you create indented sub-lists the symbol will change (or should). I haven't verified it here yet.

Yes, I know this is off-topic but Bill those are exactly my favorite sandwiches also. What a small world we live in

Bill, I DID use the unordered list icon, but it did not result in bullets. I prefer not to have to code this myself.

I saw the post that you are talking about and it does have bullets.

The root of the problem might be that you not like my favorite sandwiches? :D

Well, it's true only one is palatable to me. When I saw the post right after I submitted it, no bullets. Perhaps they'd not left the mold yet.

That's as good an explanation as any.. Good bullets take time to make.

I think that hogshead cheese is everybody's favorite sandwich. Spam is good on dark rye with sauerkraut.
