Trent Bosch makes good tools. I really like how streamlined the profile is on the curved hollowing tools.
One thing to be aware of is that John Jordan and Trent Bosch make very similar tools. The biggest difference is that Bosch uses CA glue to hold the bit and Jordan uses a set screw. Trent offers a 5/8" diameter tool which I don't believe Jordan offers.
I also have one of his handles (along with several others). The Bosch is very light which makes it easier to feel the cuts. You can fill it with shot, but I have other heavier handles. I tend to prefer the Bosch for finer (finesse and finish) cuts and use a heavier handle for roughing; however, there is much debate about when and if weight is good or bad!

Both styles of tools are very, very nice. I've never found an issue with sharpening the tip in the tool so the CA'd tips aren't a big deal for me. I sharpen them just like Ellsworth shows how to sharpen his tips with the corners of the grinding wheel. I've had both styles in the past. I do like the 5/8" Bosch tools since so often the 1/2" tools would be a bit too small or the 3/4" tools a bit to large. The 5/8" tools are a real nice compromise. Both styles offer two different shaped hook/bent tools now as well. I do also like Trent's handles. For hollowing or gouges, they're hard to beat! It's easy to add weight to them or they have enough heft for some as is. John and Trent are both excellent people to do business with as well. Trent's tools are the most tools for your buck. A 3 tool set with a handle in the 5/8" size was around $180 the last time I saw his site. The 3 tool set of Jordan's with out a handle will run a little over $200.

Hi Paul,
I have all of Trent's handles, hollowing tools and articulated holder for carving. I use all of the handles with Doug Thompson's gouges of different sizes. They really work great for roughing as well as fine work. I do fill the longer handles for roughing out large blanks with lead shot. Gives a lot more stability. As for his hollowing tools, they are great for small entrance hollow forms. I use them with a D handle but they work just as well with the arm brace if yoiu are brave enough. Have replaced the tips once without any problems. Just heat it with a small torch and remove old tip then put in a new one. Sharpen them on the slow speed grinder just like previous posts. His articulated carving holder works great for detailing off the lathe. Hope this helps you out.
