Pretty cool. But for those who don't want to build one The Nova live center has a very short #2 morse taper for the replaceable tips. It's very easy to make all sorts of adaptors for this live center. Just turn a wooden morse taper. Insert it in the headstock and turn what ever accessory you need. then just remove it and cut the morse taper short enough to fit in the Nova live center.

Thanks for the post.

You might want to correct the spelling... it's a 'Morse' taper, developed by Stephen A. Morse, not 'Mores' taper.

Thanks Alan, spelling has never been my strong point. My Spell checker is stumped most of the time....

John, I have two of the Nova systems, one for each of my lathes. I had a go at doing what you suggested. This takes a lot of time and expertise as compared to drilling a 3/8" hole and making what ever sized center you want.

Syd,

You are most welcome. Too many turners incorrectly write and pronounce it as Morris taper...

they also say I cut a tendon on the end. Wow, they are putting body parts on their turning. Of course it should be tenon. But don't feel bad. I hear our Congressmen and women and senators say Nuculer power. For god sake these are the people making our laws and they don't even know how to pronounce the word Nuclear.
