1548 Birdseye Maple (17)

Finished 10/3/17, Birdseye Maple bowl. This is some of the finest Birdseye eyes I've seen in recent times......a pleasure to have had the opportunity to turn this piece. As received, was in block form and 16% MC. Was roughed and anchorsealed, and then weighed on a monthly basis to determine stabilization. Using this method, it took a total of 4 months to stabilize. During that time It lost only 15 grams, as it went from 540 grams to 525 grams. There are some epoxy repairs near the knot on the rim. Has undercut rim. Original size was 8x8x2, and finished size is 7 1/2" x 2". Weight is 255 grams, or 9.0 ounces. Sanded to 600g plus 0000 steel wool, Danish Oil Natural, Beall 3-step buffed. Materials cost was $34.35.
