Black Walnut Vase

A friend called me to say that hed just gotten a load of firewood delivered and it turned out to be from a big black walnut. Perhaps there would be something I could use? I stopped by and was was very dissappointed to find that all the sections of the log had been quartered. I took three pieces, just to see what I could do. After green turning two pieces with the white sap wood defining the rim, I wish I had taken ten. 7.75" h x 5.75 d.
I really like the fact that the form doesn't detract from the beauty of the figure; rather helps to highlight it. So also with the finish.

Really nice and pleasing!
