Blackened Ash Natural Edge

Blackened Ash Natural Edge

11" x 4-1/4" Ash natural edge bowl blacked with India ink. One light coat of wipe-on poly applied as a finish. The line between the wood and bark is burned with a stitched look.
It's a real beauty, Mark. I had a hard time seeing the "stiched" rim but I really like that effect as well as the blackening.

I like the contrast between the sophisticated black bowl and the natural roughness of the rim. The stitching ties them together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

just saw this on the random gallery and had to take a closer look!
my motto is "a thing of beauty is a joy forever" - this piece may have been turned in 2007 but its every bit as relevant now as it was then.
