Snakewood, Myrtle Burl, Music Wire.
I have a Snakewood log that was 2-1/2" in diameter and I wanted a way to make a vessel that seemed larger. I shaped and brazed the wire framework and the vessel simply sits in it. A piece of old, dry and gnarly Myrtle burl provides a contrasting base. I mixed a bit of blue interference paint with the dye to help with the rocky appearance. When I finished Karen suggested that I had more base than needed so I turned and framed a smaller vessel emerging from the stone.
300mm x 150mm x 100mm overall (12" x 6" x 4"). The larger vessel is 240mm x 57mm (9-1/2" x 2-1/4")
Thank you for looking!!

Stunning wood, concept and execution.
An award winner if I ever saw one.
