Bill, this is simply beautiful. Is the finish multiple layers of different colors that you've applied,? And is that a brushed finish or do you spray...?

The dyes were applied with paper towels, then partly sanded back before applying another dye color. Sometimes I lightly misted the dyes with alcohol if I wanted to blend layers together. TransTint dyes were used on this piece, but I now favor Chestnut dyes for their more vibrant and longer lasting colors. The finish is lacquer and was applied after the dyeing was done. I did not do any color toning between coats of lacquer.
