Network

Network started life on the lathe as a turned sphere from freshly harvested sugar maple. The sphere was then hollowed on 20 axes and subsequently carved to the final intended form. This form represents the intersections of 12 pentagonal forms in a continuous network but also can be thought of as the form of an icosahedron (20 equilateral triangles) projected on the surface of a sphere. Thoughts of the connections within a human brain and the vast World Wide Web influenced the design and title for this work.
