Chaco meets Acoma

My first attempt at a large basket illusion. The piece is about 9.5 wide by 12 tall. The piece is a segmented holly glue up. The patterns were influenced by the patterns found on Chaco Chocolate Storage Jars and the work of Melissa Antonio an Acoma potter. Finished with a clear matte finish.
Just begging to be picked up but hard to do on the screen! I love the intricate design and workmanship. Well done!

For a first attempt, that sure does look like some skills used in it's creation were in a high state of development before taking on this challenge.....very well done, indeed! :D

Thanks Odie and Bernie. I really like making these pieces and think the holly really works well.

Wonderful piece and well done. did you have any problems with the burning on the glue lines of the segments.
