Lidded Box

Willow Oak with Black Walnut Finial
4 1/2" x 3"
(I guess it's called a lidded box)
Around here willow oak is often incorrectly called pin oak. Conventional wisdom is that it's useless. I saw it for staking blocks. Just happened to notice some of the pieces out of this log have some nice grain that I liked, and they have not checked like it usually does. Turns and finishes very nicely. (Has to for a beginner like me.)
Chuck,

I like the different approach to a box. We all make the boxes with the join on the side.
