Square Bowl, Square Foot

This bowl is ash, about 10 1/2 by 13 inches and the most striking feature is probably not the foot, but the bark on the far side. The non-bark edges were left rough in keeping with the overall theme.

Unlike the folks on WC, I think the square foot is an asset. I would, however, have bullnosed the piece rather than leave it sharp. Matter of fact, I did and do. I find 5/8 inch lift works fine, which is good, because I use a recess to hold the piece and I can turn a tenon on the face of the wood before working it on the router.

Be sure to use a jig to bullnose such small pieces!
