This vessel is made from dyed Maple with an Ebony bottom and an Ebony and Brass top. The dye has been shaded darker toward the bottom. A three tree design has been pierced equally around the vessel. The vessel measures 9 inches by 6 inches. Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.
Hal, I used an airbrush to apply the dye while the piece was on the lathe. I used a darker shade of dye around the bottom and blended it in while the piece was turning. I used flat black lacquer inside. I've found from experience that if you use dye inside on a piece thin enough to pierce, the dye will go all the way through to the outside.
