First bowl

First bowl

It's a mess, but it was my first bowl, ever. Walnut.
Nice work for a first bowl Joe. All it takes is a little bit of practice. First bowls never go to a gallery anyhow!

I hogged out my first bowl without a bowl gouge, used a skew chisel. Was kinda interesting.

Good job. Is the bowl really that red or is it just coming out in the photo?

Thanks for the kind words :) It's closer to black, now. All I put on it was mineral oil. It's weathered. It's full of mixed nuts at the moment :)

Hey, it works! hehehehe That's what's really important, here.

You have more courage than I did with my first bowl. With confidence like that I'm looking forward to what you post as time goes on.

Thanks, Rick! The ShopSmith -is- a little scary with a bowl on it. My General 25-650 is on its way, so I'm all kinds of excited to see what I can do with it!!

*drooooooooooool*
