This is Cherry burl, measuring 5.5 x 8 inches.I live in Colorado and grew up on L.I.... I miss the hardwood forests. A friend sent me a nicely shaped Cherry burl from upstate N.Y. that just held this piece in it. I sent it back to him when I was done. Going to WI. tomorrow to collect more burls...
