Maui Koa Umeke La'auau

Maui Koa Umeke La'auau

16.5 inches wide Maui Koa calabash. This was a commissioned piece for a family member. Her husband that past away planted the Koa grove where we are commercially harvesting it now. He did it with the Boy Scouts about 40 years ago... So the trees are not that old. As we harvest we are marking the spot with GPS tags. We have identified several super curly trees and we are in the process of cloning them. The next generation will have a Koa forest 100% curly, in theory at least... Money in the bank.... 10 pewa patches. Completely round bottom no dimple or anything, just like the ancient calabashes that we have in the family...
