Rings Around Neptune

Sphere and off axis platter. Figured maple colored with TransTint dyes. Lacquer finish.
Bill, this is simply beautiful. Is the finish multiple layers of different colors that you've applied,? And is that a brushed finish or do you spray...?

@Mark Hepburn
The dyes were applied with paper towels, then partly sanded back before applying another dye color. Sometimes I lightly misted the dyes with alcohol if I wanted to blend layers together. TransTint dyes were used on this piece, but I now favor Chestnut dyes for their more vibrant and longer lasting colors. The finish is lacquer and was applied after the dyeing was done. I did not do any color toning between coats of lacquer.

Bill, thanks. I really like the blending you did. And the topcoat is pristine.
