Spalted Poplar bottles

Spalted Poplar bottles

Salvaged poplar, spalted (some more, some less, some none). Tallest is 8 inches, smallest is 4 inches. Hollow form "bottles."
Yes. I call them 30 minute hollow forms. I turn the OD and tenons on each end between centers, knife off the base with a 1/16 Sorby parting tool. Chuck, drill and bore out the cylinder. Then comes the critical part: sizing the base to fit so there will be no obvious seam. Things have to be square and fitted immediately. Once any distortion sets in it gets hard to get a mating joint.
