Winged Birch Burl
George Van Beynen

Winged Birch Burl

This is a winged white birch bowl I recently finished for a customer. It is the nicest piece of white birch I have turned. They provided the burl and decisions were left to me. It took quite a while to remove all the bark and polish the edges and pockets. I was nervous as I did not know what I would do if I wrecked their burl. Fortunately it is now in their hands.

It is 26x20x6.5 inches. Finished with oil/varnish. C&C welcome.
Beautiful piece, George. You did the burl proud and I'm guessing the customer loved it. What a killer piece of wood.

George......from the picture, I had no idea it was that big until I read the information. The sheer size of it increased the admiration I have of your work on it.

Great job, very attractive piece......

Thanks Odie, there was a big gap between contact as the wing tip came around. Made me concentrate and keep my fingers on my side of the tool rest.
