Winter 2007 contest, Goblet from the Garden

This goblet was multicenter turned, and hollowed. Some carving was also involved. Insides of the hollows were charred and brushed, lower hollow was also textured with woodburner. Outside is dyed. Upper cup and lower part partially is sealed with "Plastic Coating" which makes this goblet usable. "Plastic Coating" holds as well water and alcohol and everything between. Some areas of lower part was finished with cellulose and buffed. Wood used for this project is masur birch which seems to be good candidate for dying. About 8" high.

Inspiration for this piece came from nature as well as my recent fooling with "pod forms". I tried to create seed pod which is growing to form the cup for this goblet.

What do you think? All comments and critique are welcome. Gardening tips are not needed at the moment :)
