This tower box is made using a really pretty piece of Oregon Myrtlewood. About 2.25 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall. Finished with gloss lacquer. My box collection continues to grow....

Turned from Maple, Pyrography enhancement, TransTint dye airbrushed and sealer.

This box is figured maple with an amboyna burl inlay. It is approx. 3 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter. I had this little piece of the burl on the shelf and decided it would look best as an inlay on a box. It turned out really nice!

This is a Cindy Drozda inspired Waterfall Box. The box portion is made from a Sissoo tree which came down in our neighborhood after a storm. The finial and base are from a mesquite tree also drowned in our neighborhood and painted with India ink. It is approximately 8 inches tall by 7 inches...

Here are some acorns I have made over the last few months. The little one in the middle was made by my brother. The wood and sizes vary.

Making a surprise box for my wife. This one is a pretty good size one. I can’t remember the wood type. It is going to be a whiskey barrel. I used silver/grey miliput for the steel bands. I will use a thin plywood for the top with a cork for the handle.

Cherry box turned carved burned and painted. Ready for adventures on land and sea. I think adding a few eggs for the box will be next.

My first segmented piece… I used maple with walnut veneer to give a “grout” line look. Top and bottom rings are from walnut to contrast and tie together. Lid is curly maple with walnut knob, reflecting the box shape.

Quilted Maple with rounded bottom so it will rock a bit. Island is Alder end grain as the growth rings inspired the shell carving idea. Tree trunk is Curly Maple, painted with black tea (high tannin), allowed to dry and fumed with HOUSEHOLD ammonia in a Tupperware container, left to air out for...

Double Box with Mouths; turned, carved, and painted cherry wood; 8.5"x2.5". It was an incredibly fun process to bring the sketch in my notebook to life.

You get the idea right?

These vases were conceived as a Passe' Passe' Set. That is, when used they give the appearance of one color ball "jumping" to the other vase. Of course, you can also use a single vase to produce one color ball or several balls of different colors.

As some know, most of the turning I've done in the past was for magicians. Here are the last pieces I've made for this purpose.

Spalted maple hollow form (box?) with lid. Finished with Odie's Oil. Some repair with Starbond Black in the heaviest spalting. About 7.5 inches tall by about 8 inches wide. Constructive criticism appreciated.
