    Ambrosia maple (silver maple that had been infected with ambrosia beetles) is a nice carving wood. I turned the blank from green wood last year and started the carving over winter break.     Madrone and Glass Vessel

    Madrone burl with black lacquered maple foot. The lid is slumped glass with a brass finial. Turned from a green blank, this piece took many hours of thinking and planning before it ever saw the lathe. About 18 x 8.
