Im looking for a lathe that I can turn a 24" or26" drum.
Im new to turning but not to wood working. Need advice on a good lathe
and prehaps a used one. Thanks Rick

That will be a major investment for your first lathe. But fine if you intend to turn a lot of large work.

If these drums are limited production, you might consider a home-built contraption to guide the work on a router table. This link was easier to find than I expected: http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/cart-before-horse-57412/

I might have referred to it in a later discussion of drum building on the same web site. I'll see if I can find it later.
