Indeed it was Mike. Had a family lose a house that was in an area that had never, in recorded history of the area, had 4 feet of water in it. Quite a few friends also. My area, ironically, was lucky. We're in very low country and somehow had no flooding.

Your local temperature seemed rather cold for a perfect day until I realized your temperature is Celsius. So, 29° C is 84° F.

Yesterday about noon I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread that it rarely snows here. The words were barely off my keypad before a few snowflakes began to fall. :D By late afternoon there was a heavy blanket (by our standards) of almost a half inch of snow. Then the snow on our sidewalk started to melt just in time to refreeze at dusk and create some nice slick spots.

Well, the day started off with maybe 1/2 inch of ice, then we got maybe 4 inches of snow, now we are getting rain/snow/sleet mix... One good thing is the 'parking alert' beepers on my 'smart' car finally all turned off since they are all covered with ice and snow. My smart car is telling me to take it to the dealer..... Maybe I will wait till it melts.... Throw another log on the fire!!! Oh, nap time today too...

Mark, you would have to mention gumbo. I'm jealous.
diverjoe, I lived in central NC from 1971-1974. I have slides (shows how long ago it was) that show the results of an ice storm. Everything looked like it was made of crystal- about 2 inches of the stuff.

The only thing the smart car doesn't tell me is how far to the next coffee recycling station.... As in beer and coffee are alike in that you don't buy either one, you just rent them....

9 degrees here in SE TN with a high of 31 degrees. However, it is supposed to be up to 64 this Thursday. Go figure.

Well it was below zero this morning in my part of Tennessee. Quite brisk. But as they often say if you don't like the weather in Tennessee wait a day. Sure enough it's supposed to be 67 by Thursday.

Beautiful day here, sun and just a soft breeze, -2 F right now at lunch time, it’l be going down from here, but not too much(-15F) as we are getting snow late this afternoon and overnight, then tomorrow the temp will go up (-1F)
Just the right temp to go ride the snow mobile and maybe do some ice fishing, sheers

I live about 8 miles south of Grants Pass, OR in the Applegate River valley. Over the past week we got three overnight snow falls of 4 to 6 inches of verrry wet snow plus several other lighter snow falls. I had to get out my trusty Kubota tractor with front-loader twice to clear my driveway and the community private road before anyone could get out. The wet snow pulled down many trees onto power lines. I was without commercial power for about 24 hours. (Thank heavens I made the plunge a few years and bought an all-house backup generator.) Others here were less fortunate and were without power for up to three days.

The concern now is that the forecast warm rain will melt the snow and lead to serious flooding of the Applegate River. I am not at risk though, being 100 feet or so above the normal river level.

It was 25*F overnight, but it's supposed to be around 75*F in a couple days. I don't have a climate-controlled shop, so I have to plan around the weather, particularly when dealing with glue-ups and finishes. I can sometimes bring things into the house to dry/cure, but if my wife can smell it, I'll be in trouble...

Forecast was for -15C tonight but it is that already at 5pm, it’ll get colder for sure, but that’s not bad for this time of year, small (less cold wave :)).

Never been in that kind of cold weather. I turn with my garage door open, all doors open.... They will find me dead in that weather if I do that!!

Charlie, yes bright sun shine, and very cold, enough so that we have snow on the evergreen trees that stays right on, only wind will dislodge that a bit.

Behind glass that sun feels nice :)

Hey Leo, what kind of red wine do they make there in Rainy River? I used to live across the lake in Rochester, NY where decent red grapes were pretty rare. A much better situaton here in Southern Oregon.

Winter 1976-1977, we had lots of sunshine but it never got above zero for over a month. Not enough sun to melt the ice and snow. It snowed in December and we didn't see pavement in our subdivision until March.

Hi and thanks Dennis, well NY is not quite across the lake for me Dennis :), as I live well west of Lake Superior (200km +), as for the wine grapes, I get mine from an area that is too dry and hot to my liking, not to think about the ground shaking wake ups , Cabernet Sauvignon from CA and Sauvignon Blanc for the white.

Got 240L to rack over pretty soon, then have it rest till the fall and bottle it.

Leo, I had forgotten how huge the provinces are. I am used to thinking of Ontario as the region around Toronto, probably because that is the only part that I have visited. I haven't made wine in the last 10 years.
