    Kind sirs and sirettes,

I have a Woodfast shortbed lathe (not the one made by Rikon). I don't have the manual that came with it. (I bought it used.) Any suggestions for where I could get a copy of the manual? I'm asking because I assume I'll need it some day. As of today, the lathe's working fine.

Contact Craft Supplies, they used to sell the Woodfast lathes and they may still be able to help you.:)

    Howdy davidwalser......

I have a model 908 Woodfast lathe that I purchased from Craft Supplies in 1992. It's the Australian made lathe, and I assume that's what you have also. Yours is probably the model 408. You can confirm this by looking at the far end of the bedways.....there you'll see the serial number stamped on the top surface.

I have the manual right here, but I'm afraid you'll be a little disappointed with the details in it.....very rudimentary......but, it does have an exploded view with a list of parts. That may be of some help to you at some future date.

The manual, I believe, was intended for Woodfast's international sales originally, because it lists the spindle sizes available as 1x10 TPI, or 30mm x 3.5mm pitch. My lathe is 1 1/4" x 8 tpi.

Let me know the serial number of your lathe, and if it'll do you any good, I'll try to get a copy of the manual Xeroxed for you.

    Thanks for the help

Aren't woodturners great? Someone went out of their way to scan and email me a copy of their manual. Based on that, I now know I've a model 408S Woodfast lathe. I'm humbled that someone who's never met me would be so kind. Very cool.

I'm having trouble getting the manual scanned and attached to email.

Tell you what......if you'll PM me with your snail mail address, I'll get some copies of the manual and mail it to you in the next couple days......ok?

Thank you for the offer to mail me a manual. However, as I said up thread, some kind soul already sent me a copy via email.

OK, I misunderstood.......thought you were talking about me!

Glad you got the manual. You're going to like the Woodfast lathe. It's built like a tank!

    Later, friend.......
