Hi Dean, that is exactly what I've had to do several times also. I use a 5/16" bit also on all the woods with my Nova screw. Yesterday I put a little paraffin wax on the screw and when it came time for me to remove the bowl from the chuck screw in came right off. Maybe the wax helped? Happy turning!

I've had my strap wrench since the beginning of time! :D

It's been modified to accomodate a 14" bowl, but I find that seldom necessary, because I can get a good grip on those with my hands. It's most needed for smaller bowls. I don't use the worm screw provided by my Stronghold chucks, but I have an assortment of screw center chucks that I use extensively......pretty much the same thing.o_O

Hi Odie, that is exactly what I need when a worm screw gets cantankerous! That will be my next purchase. The last few bowls I turned had no problem, made the hole just a tad larger. Strap wrench is a good tool for the shop? Happy turning!
