While reminiscing with some friends over the holidays the Woodworking Symposium at BYU in Provo, Utah circa 1980 came up. Does anyone have any memories of the fabulous event? It seems to me that turning was not a large part of it but I do recall one of the Lecoffs being there as well as Elsworth with his small bent gouges and no handles, maybe Del Stubbs and possibly Dale Nish. I recall someone at BYU as the main organizer , was it Nish? It was the greatest woodworking gathering I have ever attended. It was there I first met Tage Frid, among the giants of the time, Wendell Castle and James Krenov. I also recall Gary Knox Bennett at an auditorium gathering using some mild foulmouthed word and the President of BYU looking like he was going into orbit.

those were the days
