I made this bowl on my MDF Rose Engine out of sapele. It is about 4" across, and was an experiment to see how much I could alter the shape of the bowl simply by cutting the rim.

So it’s all done. I will be doing a little extra work on the finish i kinda rushed it a bit. I did use CA for the finish in this one. That’s not my go to finish but it works if I had done my standard finish it would have taken an extra week or 2 to finish it up. This is a precursor for another...

I've read the posts about the toothpick holder article in Wood Magazine. Unfortunately when I went to the bookstore I couldn't find the magazine, so I had to wing it. It was fun to figure it out on my own...I like a challenge.
The plug/stem/lid is all one piece.
Or is it?
Turned from Sapele (from Wizzy). The "lid" is walnut, and the finial & "collar" are Maple.
Measures 5"x2.75". Finish is 3 parts each DNA, BLO, & Shellac (recipe from E. Bud).
