Description: A maple platter, 12" dia., approx. 1" high at the rim. Raised lip at the outermost diameter, with 15 ,1" diameter inserts of oak, cherry,black walnut and maple arranged in a pattern next to the rim. This is followed by a quarter inch wide texturized ring. Finish is tung oil and buffed with white diamond. Depicts: "As the tide rolls in and the flight of birds"

Description: A Stave Construction piece I used to demo at our club meeting in March. The staves were layered, recut and reglued, then glued into an assembly. Consists of maple, paduak, black walnut and ebony. Gluing techniques, mounting techniques and prel. turning were demononstrated at the presenation (1.5 hrs) This piece was finshed turned later and top added. Finish is tung oil.

Description: X-mas ornament inside/out turned from black walnut with a spindle turned piece inserted in the center. An iscicle on the bottom and a finial carved in a spiral design similiar to a Stuart Mortimer style.

Description: Maple rough turned and cut into 2pcs., round and square holes pierced and filled with: cherry, padauk, ebony and maple. Finished turned inside , glued together and finish turned outside. Several coats of tung oil.

Description: A whimsical instrument reminiscent of the days when horns were used to summon troops in the old West. Materials are ebony, padauk, walnut and maple. Was displayed in the instant gallery at the symposium and the style is complimentry to my artwork entitled "Desert Harmonies" in the "Spirit of the Southwest" display.

Description: Hollow Easter Egg turned out of maple with inlays of padauk, cherry, and walnut. Finshed withTurner's polish. Size is 2" X 3" Background is a (subdued) picture of real eggs done by my mom many years ago. (used 2 sheets of wax paper to reduce background)

Description: The inspiration for this came from an Arendal Mantle clock. Black walnut was turned, a portion was cut off for clock face insertion and pendulum detail. Clock cavity was drilled out with forstner bit. The pendulum area cavity was routed out and ebonized with no finish (to create illusion of depth). Pendulum and rod are maple with a hint of acrylic gold finish. The walnut is finished with several coats of tung oil. Size is 3" dia. X 9" tall.

Description: 'mantel clock' -turning chips from a cherry bowl turned green, mixed with glue and compressed in a mold. Then drilled the opening for the clock.

Description: This is one of 3 hollow pieces turned within 24 hrs of taking a mountain ash down in my front yard that was almost dead. Piece is 4 in. wide and slightly less high and exhibits spalting. Finish is 3 coats of tung oil .

Description: An apple turned vase with a violin carving to depict the "orange slice special" violin seen at the AAW live auction. This vase was turned as a gift to the violin teacher, Eric, who played the violin for me the day before the symposium in Richmond and gave me his valuable feedback for future projects. Approximatly 7.5 inches tall and 5 inch diameter.

Description: Clock started out as dyed composite wood purchased at Woodcraft, 6"x6"x2" and sawn in half to provide material for 2 wedding items for a neighbour's son. The clock face was turned to thin the wings, then the 2 corners were cut off and glued to form the bottom. Final size is 10"x6"x1" with 2 coat lacquer finish.

Description: "The Orange Slice Special" A woodturner's violin, designed, developed and built by the author. The soundboard,backboard, neck,pegs and end pin were constructed by turning, profiling, sectioning and gluing cedar, maple, ebony and rosewood. It was designed as a whimsical artform, but observed playability and sound requirements. Not a Stradivarius, but can be played! Made its debut at the 2008 Symposium Live Auction! Played on stage by a woodturner artist, purchased by a master and given to a very proud young adolescent.
