Black Walnut box with candy-drop peak on lid. The bottom's tenon is spalted maple glued on before hollowing, so the walnut's grain is aligned fairly exactly how it was before parting the lid.
The finial was turned as a knob shape, then carved and sanded.
3 1/2" high, 2 3/4" diameter, with a 3/16" wall thickness. Sanded to 1500 grit & finished with Minwax wipe-on poly.

Hi Ken,
One of those simple looking but difficult pieces. Like your unusual finish to the top of the box but for me the outstanding feature is the spalted joint. It realy lifts the bland wood. all the best maurice
