This piece was created from a highly spalted piece of maple. It measures 14" w by 3" h and was made for use as a fruit bowl. It is slightly deeper than a platter but shallower than a bowl of this size. Mahoney's Walnut Oil finish was used as this piece is intended for food use. Sorby's texturing tool was used for the edge trim and a brown magic marker was used to increase and highlight the contrast between the natural wood and the trim work.
