Apple Crotch Bowl with Stitching

Apple Crotch Bowl with Stitching

I rough turned this apple crotch about 25 years ago and thinking it would crack badly, I forgot about it. Earlier this year, I was surprised to see there was only one crack. I guess long and slow did the trick. This being one of my first attempts at stitching, it has one error. The hole closest to the rim was partially exposed when removing material from the rim. Lesson learned! It is 8 inches in diameter, finished with 6 coats of wipe-on poly and stitched with black leather. Apple is still one of my favourite woods to turn.
Beautiful grain! Apple wood has so much character. I now regret having used so much of it for firewood. :(
