Twisted Thermed Stand

Twisted Thermed Stand

This 7 1/2 inch tall bowl stand was made from blocks of Bastao wood cut from a larger log. The blocks were turned on a therming rig to create their unique shapes and to feature the variety of wood, grain and bark textures in this unusual wood. A twisted tilt was formed by angling the bottoms of the legs and attaching them with dowels to a center support structure turned from poplar (and stained black). The bowl was made as a separate project. You can see the therming rig with Bastao blocks in process in the thumbnail's insert. Finish is Watco oil buffed on the Beall system.
