• We just finished a major forum upgrade. Please check out the "Whats New and Help" Thread at https://aawforum.org/community/index.php?threads/forum-upgrade-whats-new-and-help-march-2021.17436/ If you are having problems using the forums, please clear your browser cache and that should clear up any issues. Otherwise post in the Help Thread or email us at forum_moderator@aawforum.org. Hope you enjoy the refreshed site!
  • 3/30/21 - We finished what was hopefully the last part of the forum upgrade we started earlier this month, the rebuilding of all of the permissions. In our testing everything seems to be working correctly but if you have any problems please post in the "Forum Technical Support" forum and we will take a look at it. You will also see a few changes with the main forum index. We have moved the AAW Member Forums to their own group and the Marketplace Forums to their own group. This simplified the permissions configuration for the forums and hopefully it will make the forums a little easier to naviagate. Thanks!

Vermont Maple Hollow Form

Vermont Maple Hollow Form

The hollow form was designed to have 6 panels around with alternate panels wire brushed, hard to see in this picture. The remaining panels were not textured. Additionally, there are two textured rings just below the neck and at the base of the piece just above the foot. The natural Maple color was darkened considerably by the Waterlox finish and final wax buffing. The finished size is 6 X 6 inches.
Bill, you should have entered it in the Dec. contest. Very nice! The form is just right with some subtle texturing.

James, Thank you for the nice compliment on the turning. I was worried about not being able to see the wire brushing and glad that it does show up in the photo enlarged.

Peter, Thanks for liking the form and texturing. It is appreciated of course.

Hal, I would have had I been active of sorts. Have been redirecting my efforts to putting the shop back together and organizing and have not been turning too much. I wish that I would have entered it after your comment. It was just at the cutoff size. Too bad, however I don't think that it would have surpassed those selected anyway.

Thanks for all of the nice comments. They were appreciated I assure you.
