Walnut Hollow Form

Walnut Hollow Form

This side-grain walnut hollow form is about 7" around and 4" tall. It was turned wet to finished form, from a full log (around the pith).

It did crack around the pith (as expected) as it dried. The cracks were patched with Maple pewas and huini pegs.

This piece was inspired by the calabash bowls I've been making lately. I love the feel and the flow of the curve around a calabash, and enjoy the challenge of turning that flow. I wanted to express that flow in a hollow form.

Finished with walnut oil.
