American Chestnut and Mesquite Captured Spin Top

This was my first time working with American Chestnut. It turned beautifully, and is such an interesting looking wood. Characteristics of Oak, but lacking rays, and this piece was fairly tight-grained. That, plus the relative scarcity of the American Chestnut tree makes this a special one for me. I paired it with Mesquite partly for the complementary colors, and also the hardiness and "American" nature of the timber (general American, not just USA). I think it works well. 2.75" diameter and 6" height. I had some balance issue with this one, but it still spins for 2+ minutes.
