Barbarini's Tambourine

Cherry, 12" across, finished with walnut oil.
"Barbarini's Tambourine" is the tune for a much-loved English country dance of the same name. The dance dates back to about 1750, but the contemporary interpretation of it that we all love only goes back to 1987 and is the work of Jacqueline Schwab. I have been involved with English country dancing since the mid-80s, first as a dancer and then as a caller/teacher. When I'm not woodturning I'm usually traveling the country working at dance events, so this plate brings together my two professions. What a great life!
