Blackbird Vessel

This is one of a series of sculptural turnings where the legs (the birds in this one) stand proud of the central vessel which does not contact the display surface. The vessel and legs are turned from one piece of cherry, then carved. The lid and finial were turned seperately. The birds are colored with acrylic paints and the vessel is finished with danish oil. It is 4 7/8" h x 7" in diameter.

Very different. You certainly were thinking outside the box ( no pun intended ), which is where I spend most of the time. I love it!. I really appreciate all the time it took you to do the carving, etc.
