Boxelder Burl Hollow Form

4.5”ø × is 3.75"h

Shapley little hollow form turned from a beautiful piece of Boxelder burl. Oriented this piece to create a “collar” of flame around the neck. Two rounds of wood bleach helped ramp up the contrast between the red tones of the flame and the ivory-colored burl.

This wood was sold to me as Norway maple, which I just assumed was also capable of producing a red flame defense mechanism. Thanks to Kevin Jesequel for showing me the error of my ways 👍🏻
