Cenote
Ryan Butler

Cenote

This piece is inspired by the natural phenomenon in Mexico of limestone pools with clear, blue waters.

It is 7" in diameter and 4" high. It has a natural top surface, textured top opening, and a "pool" with dyed wood and then filled with clear resin. The pool then shows the swirling wood grain through the resin.

I used boxelder from a hollowed tree and joined two pieces with the hollowed edges in to form the blank with a cavelike, see-through interior.

It is in my Double Natural style for both the top and bottom of the form have natural surfaces.
