Coming Apart at the Seams

This peice of pecan wood was reclaimed from the side of the road from a street expansion site. It was turned into a 5" sphere then hollowed out. It was then painstakingly carved into a delicate spiral, sandblasted and dyed black. Its fixed to a hand carved and sandblasted base of redwood root burlt with bark and sapwood still intact. The stand reflects years of erosion and the sphere signifies the delicate nature of our planet.
