Don, this piece brings to mind many fond sailing memories and books I have read:

Sterling Hayden's Autobiography Wanderer

Nathaniel Philbrick's In the Heart of the Sea which is the real life story of Moby Dick

And Robin Lee Graham's Dove about the first teenager to solo circumnavigate the globe in a 24-foot sloop in 1965.

All great stories!
