The inspiration for this piece was the round rock geodes that one often sees cut in half to show a detailed interior. The wood is Maple Burl with Holly, and Mopane layered on the inside. The inside pattern is cut through the layers on an ornamental lathe. The base is Maple Burl. Size is 2.5" diameter.
i received my 1st geode this spring, its not near as nice as your piece, great work.
