Beloved
Maple. 9 X 3.5 inches (23 X 9 cm).
This is my contribution to Vicki Jordan's "Voice of a Beloved Tree" project. I'm one of the last holdouts to finishing the project, because I set my self up for frustration by turning this particular shape. The recurved rim made it very difficult to work in that narrow space on the underside, combined with the depth of the bowl. Both surfaces are carved. Did I mention that this wood is rock hard???? That was the other reason for my procrastination.
I had started this several years ago, put it aside, picked it up, put it aside, and finally committed to finishing it this year (2018).
This is beautiful. I'm very new to the world of woodturning; can you point out what parts of this were turned, and how? I can't figure it out.
