Cook Pine Vase

My wife spotted an arborist taking down a cook pine on our island and we were allowed to take as much of the wood as we could lift. Much of the wood has spalted as it sat in my shop, but this was turned from the first section I turned. Finish is General Bowl Finish

I'm so happy to see that you named the wood right. This is definitely Cook Pine. Most people call it Norfolk Island Pine. There are 2 different species, and once grown up completely different. Nice work placing the knots. I usually let mine spalt for about 4 to 5 months.

Thanks Emiliano. I consider your praise to be high praise indeed. I have both Norfolk Island pine and Cook pine in the shop. Once the bark is off, it's hard to tell the difference.
