The Wall

This is a Mesquite hollow form that is 7 x 6. The main body was bleached and then carved with a leather punch. Each individual block was textured and lightly colored. The top of the vessel is carved with a different hollow leather punch and painted with iridescent paints. It has a turned copper collar and wire supports the transition between the flat top and rounded bottom. A close up of the top is below. I am trying some experiments with using the paint in a different way and still showcasing the natural wood. Some experiments work better than others!

wow! just discovered this while searching for ideas for some mesquite I have. bleaching mesquite is/was the farthest thing on my mind but this took some very creative out of the box thinking. Very cool.
