Cindy Drozda inspired boxes. Overall dimensions, 3 1/4" D x 6" H, 4" D x 8" H. Hard maple, maidou burl, ziricote, Ease Indian rosewood, Burmese blackwood.
I was given a piece of beautiful maidou burl about a year ago. It was 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 9". I wanted to maximized the size of the turning and minimize the waste. So I cut it into segments and glued them back together to end up with a 4" diameter vessel. But before I glued the segments up I cut the inside of each segment and glued them up to form a smaller vessel thus ending up with a "nested" pair. The dark thin dividers between segments are ziricote. The rim on the smaller vessel and lid are segmented ziricote and Burmese blackwood on the larger one. The finials are hard maple and the bases, East Indian rosewood. The overall dimensions are 4" Dia x 8" H and 3 1/4" Dia x 6" H. The finish is waterborne poly urethane.
