From a 5/4 Goncalo Alves board a bit thin to make a vessel but two thicknesses works. As I find this shape challenging to hollow from a single piece the two pieces have the added benefit of being much easier to work and I can sneak a bit of decoration on the inside. No honest way to hide the seam so I tucked it under the vessel and highlighted it with a piece of square copper wire, added feet and turned a matching lid. A carved vegetable ivory finial. 4-1/2" x 7-1/2"

I love it. Back in December I did a demo for our club on making these two piece hollow forms. I was inspired by a video by Tim Yoder and in the process of practicing for the demo made 6 of these all out of different woods. I love your idea of tucking the seam underneath. and the copper wire, but what really sets it apart for me is the feet. I have to learn how to do that!
