Olmec Faces

Another try at carving. These were inspired by the large, ~5 foot diameter stone heads carved by the Olmec. The Olmec were the first major civilization in Mexico, appearing around 3600 years ago, and were the precursors to later civilizations, like the Maya. The largest is 5 inch diameter. They were carved and finished to simulate an artifact dug out of an archeological dig.
