I traced the interior grain lines with a fine sharpie, and ebonized the rim via India ink. Added some beading to the mortise. This bowl came from the section of the log next to the previous bowl I posted—couldn’t be any different.
I like this effect but think I would try the opposite---- put the traced grain lines on the exterior. That way people could use the bowl without fear of scuffing the pattern.
Oh thy could be cool as well! I chose the interior for the “pop art” look when viewed from above, but it would also be neat to have the alternative. Functionality makes sense, too.
